1.0 SCOPE
This specification covers the general requirements for 12, 24 fiber loose tube construction optical fiber Cables for ADSS aerial application. (60m Span, 40m/s wind speed & 120m Span, 40m/s wind speed).

3.0 CABLE DESIGNS
This cable design consists of loose tubes (containing optical fibers & filling compound) stranded Around a central strength member. The tubes are stranded with a reverse oscillation lay and are held in position with binders. The cable core is fully filled all interstices and wrapped with suitable overlap.
Additional strength member for reinforcement is added to the inner sheath. And the cable core is Covered with black polyethylene for inner & outer sheath

4.0 CABLE COMPONENTS
4.1 Optical fibers
The optical fibers shall consist of doped silica core with a pure silica cladding and two layers of Acolyte for primary protection

4.2 Loose Tubes
4.2.1 Loose Tubes
A filled thermoplastic tube is extruded around the fiber(s). It serves as a protection mechanism for The fibers. The tubes are filled with a thyrotrophic gel to block water ingress

4.2.2 Number of Fibers per Tube
Fibers per tube for various fiber counts is defined Appendix B.

4.2.3 Tube Identification
The fibers and tubes will be color coded for easy identification, in accordance with EIA/TIA-598.
The filling compound is neutral in color and does not inhibit the handling or identification of the Optical fibers

4.3 Fillers

Fillers may be included in the cable core to lend symmetry to the cross section of the stranded cables.


4.4 Strength Members
4.4.1 Central Strength Member (CSM)
The cable has a dielectric central strength member. The CSM may have a polyethylene jacket to Provide the necessary geometry to strand the loose tubes.

4.5 Filling Compound
Filling compound prevents the longitudinal ingress of water to the cable core. They are non-nutrient To fungus, electrically non-conductive, homogeneous and free from foreign matter

4.6 Core Wrappings
4.6.1 Binder
Binders are helically applied around the core of stranded cables to secure the loose tubes and Fillers in their position.

4.6.2 Core Wrap Tape
Core wrap tape should be polyester tape.

4.7 Cable Core
The cable core is formed by stranding the required number of loose tubes around a central strength Member (CSM) with a reverse oscillating lay. Fillers may be applied to maintain the geometry of the Cable core. The core is wrapped with non-hygroscopic binders. The cable core should be wrapped With polyester tape.

4.8Sheath
The inner & outer sheath is polyethylene with a nominal thickness of 1.0mm & 1.5mm respectively.
It meets the requirements of ASTM D1248.

4.9 Sheath Marking
4.9.1 Unless otherwise specified, the following information is printed on a finished cable:

4. 9.2 The markings shall be white. If a re-print is necessary, the re-print shall be yellow.
Where yellow markings are supplied, the white markings shall be ignored

4. 9.3 The markings are dimensioned and spaced to produce good legibility.
The accuracy of the Sequential marking is within –0% and +1% of the actual measured length of the cable.

5.0 CABLE CHARACTERISTICS
When TIA/EIA-455 test procedures are used, this specification refers to the latest issue of the pertinent Document.

5.1 Optical Characteristics (G652D)

5.2 Mechanical Characteristics
The cable shall meet the mechanical requirements of this specification without exhibiting an average Increase in fiber attenuation greater than 0.1dB. These values include the repeatability of the Measurement system, which shall not be greater than ± 0.05dB. Unless otherwise specified, all attenuation measurements are performed at 1550nm.

6.0 PACKAGING AND SHIPPING

6.1 Each cable length is wound onto a separate reel

6.2 The inner end shall be securely fastened and protected from damage. The reel shall be a nonreturnable Wooden reel of sufficient strength to prevent damage to the cable from shipment, storage, Handling and installation

6.3 The direction in which the reel should be rolled shall be plainly marked on the outside surfaces of both Flanges.

6.4 The cable ends shall be sealed with a waterproof heat shrinkable cap to prevent moisture from Entering the cable. When requested, a pulling eye shall be installed on one or both ends of the cable

6.5 Steel and wooden reels may have a flex board wrap to provide mechanical and thermal protection to The Cable.

6.6 Wooden reels shall have weather resistant wooden lagging applied around the periphery of the reel Flanges. The lagging is bound with steel straps to help prevent dislocation of individual lags.

6.7 A durable weather-resistant label is attached to the cable reel flange which contains, the following Information:
